June 2014 – Hai Boey Seafood Dinner
It was a Friday night, after working hours, to bid farewell to one of my colleagues. The traffic was congested. But we still managed to reach the place (from Bayan Baru) in 30 minutes. There were 10 of us.
We called in earlier to make reservation as well as to order the food in advance. Good thing we had.
It was quite a nice place to come in the late evening to enjoy the beach a bit, then to continue with dinner there.
Drinks : Nutmeg Juice & Umbra juice
Starter : Iced Bitter Gourd with Honey + Fried Eggplant Meatball
Iced Bitter Gourd with Honey
Fried Eggplant Meatball
I love the Fried Eggplant Meatball. It is my favourite dish from long time ago. But this time, I think the amount of eggplant was too little.
It was my first time trying this way of eating bitter gourd. It was quite refreshing. A nice way to start off a meal. ^^ You will be given 3 types of ‘sauce’ to dip. Honey, hot & sour, and cili padi soy sauce.
Main dishes : Hot & Sour ‘Lala’ + Salted Fish Stir Fry Vege + Seaweed Tofu + Claypot Grouper + Salted Egg Crab + Black Pepper Crab + ‘Guinness Stout’ Prawn
Hot & Sour Lala : Recommended
Salted Fish Stir Fry Vege : The dish is ok, but I was unable to taste salted fish. Is it just me?
Seaweed Tofu : Normal. Nothing much to say. Tofu with seaweed on top with mushroom & vege.
Claypot Grouper : I honestly can’t differentiate the different of being cooked inside a claypot or being steamed. I normally eat steamed fish and I don’t find any different with claypot. It was good anyway.
Kam Heong Crab : Nice but not much meat.
Salted Egg Crab : Same, nice but not much meat.
‘Guinness Stout’ Prawn : I couldn’t taste Guinness Stout (beer).
We also ordered 2 types of noodles after that, since some of them need more. ><
Dessert : Lychee Coconut
Lychee Coconut : Recommended.
